Northland’s custom-cut lumber is mill run, rough cut, with culls out. Standard custom cut dimensions are listed below and further custom dimensions can be ordered on request up to a 16′ max. We do not pressure treat. We also offer Stringers, Notched Stringers, and Trimblocks.
Hog fuel is primarily bark and a minimal amount of white wood fibre. This product is created from debarking of the logs entering the mill for further processing. The white wood waste is generated by the saw milling process, which includes pieces that could not be captured and sent to the white wood waste storage areas. This “fuel” can be used for heat generation, electrical generation, and some absorption applications. Delivery with 53’ walking floor (self-unloading) trailer can be provided.
Wood chips are a byproduct of our lumber manufacturing process. Fibre remaining after the log has been debarked and our premium lumber has been extracted is utilized to produce wood chips.
The debarking process produces a clean chip product then the chips are screened to remove the sawdust and ensure the chips meet a uniform size.
We sell green wood chips under contract to ALPAC pulp mills for softwood pulp production. The wood chips are stored in 15 foot high, 20 foot long overhead bins. We have 120 BDU’s of storage capacity on site for wood chips (about enough to fill six b-train chip vans).
The minimum height we allow to load from our bins is 11 feet to a maximum of 14 feet, 6 inches. The truck must be a minimum of 24 feet long to fit under a bin hopper.
Our shavings are ideal for animal bedding and spill absorption. We process and screen the shavings following a kiln drying process on the rough lumber it comes from to remove wood-dust and to ensure the shavings meet our target specifications. The shavings are then either compressed and bagged for the animal bedding market, or for spill absorption.
